Servant Chefs started with an opportunity - a local event called Streetside Showers was providing care to those in need. Part of that care was food, but they didn't have the resources to serve quality meals.
Our team decided to pair our love of smoking meats with a bold step of faith. We decided to try serving the meals ourselves, featuring brisket, slaw, and corn prepared from our own kitchens (or back yards). That July we served approximately 100 people who were used to PB&J sandwiches a free BBQ lunch fit for Texas!
The following month we decided to try it again, this time featuring a spread of smoked pork and sausage. We served over 100 pounds of food to our guests in the 100+ degree heat. Yet everyone had a great time, serve team included.
The more we served, the more we saw the need. Our desire grew to not only serve this group once per month, but to serve at other events and reach others in need as well.
We came back for a third event, this time with pork, sausage, chicken, and even more sides. Again in the 100+ heat (thanks Texas!) we served 110 plates of food to our guests who, by now, and come to recognize what they were in for.
Seeing the smiles on people's faces, the gratitude they have, and being able to bless them with a quality meal served with love and respect has ignited our team to pursue this experience for as many people in our community as we can reach.
